DongHua Zen Monastery
Donghua Zen Monastery in Guangdong is located in Longxian Town, Wengyuan County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. It was built in the first year of the founding of the Southern Dynasty Liang Wudi (502 AD) and has a history of 1,600 years. It is a Zen Monastery.
In the first year of Tianjian of the Southern Dynasty Liang Wudi, the Indian Zen Master Zhiyao Sanzang sailed to Guangdong and arrived at Wengyi (now Wengyuan County) and founded Lingjiu Monastery. In the first year of Longshuo of the Tang Dynasty, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng received the robe and bowl in Huangmei, and returned to the south through this temple and practiced in seclusion, changing Lingjiu Monastery to Donghua Zen Monastery.
Donghua Zen Monastery flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties and was destroyed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In 1997, Master Wanxing entered this mountain to practice in seclusion for three years, and rebuilt Donghua after leaving the seclusion.
Donghua Zen Monastery was officially completed on October 1, 2008.
